In early 2000, New Zealand was ignited as the sailing world descended on our shores to live the America’s Cup dream. America’s Cup 2000 was simply New Zealand’s biggest sporting event ever.
Last February 2003 the world’s challenger for the America’s Cup has been known.
The beautifull and unpredictable Hauraki Gulf has been again the scene for sailing’s fiercest battle. America’s Cup 2003 was an even bigger and better spectacle.
Team New Zealand skippered by Dean Barker lost against the Swiss challenger, Alinghi. For the first time in history the Cup went to Europe.
